CRTC Internet Usage Ruling

December 1, 2011 - Independent Internet service providers (ISPs) like Execulink Telecom met on Nov. 17th to review the latest Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) decision (Telecom Notice 2011-77). This decision affected the pricing model for ISPs who purchase access from National carriers in order to provide competitively priced residential internet services.

CRTC has revised its earlier plan of charging ISPs for their individual customers’ usage to one where ISPs are charged based on peak capacity of their entire wholesale customer base. The impact of this decision is still being analyzed by all ISPs and the major carriers as to how it will affect ISPs offering competitively priced residential internet services.

At this point, Execulink Telecom does not anticipate altering its current strategy of providing a high quality residential internet access experience to our customers via a customer specific usage billing system.
