It’s April 1st, and you know what the means! It’s April Fools Day - A day where you trust no one and question everything. It is also a day where many corporations make the risky decision to do a public prank which can result in positive brand recognition but can also lead to disastrous consequences.

Instead of tricking you with an Execu-prank, we decided to devote today’s blog to our five favourite April Fools day jokes in 2016.

Is it appropriate to use *Spoiler Alerts* when it comes to pranks?

A Netflix Original – “John Stamos: A Human, Being”

John Stamos, everyone’s Uncle Jesse, was featured in a Netflix prank earlier today. Not only did Netflix edit some of their film and television categories to include things like “Comedies John Stamos Thinks are Funny” and “TV Dramas That Make John Stamos Feel Things He Hasn’t Felt In a Long Time”, the video streamer also put out a fake trailer for a documentary about the actor’s life

Although I am fully aware this was a just gag, it doesn’t stop me from actually wanting to see this documentary.

Anaheim Angels Help With Marriage Proposal

Professional pranksters ‘Prank vs Prank’ teamed up with four players from the Anaheim Angels from Major League Baseball including Mike Trout, Jered Weaver, C,J Cron and Kole Calhoun to trick their teammate, Garrett Richards, with an April Fools prank.

I will try not to give too much away, but the jist of this prank is the Angels set up their teammate to help someone (an actor) to propose to their girlfriend at a restaurant, a girlfriend that had earlier in the night asked the baseball players how to dump her boyfriend – akward! Richards reaction is priceless.

New Jersey Angels

Speaking of Angels, the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey Leauge announced today that they were rebranding to the New Jersey Angels, trading their devil horned logo for a pair of angel wings and a halo. Since New Jersey has gone by the popular moniker Devils since 1982 and is one of the more popular brands in the league, this was obviously a devilishly good April Fools joke.

They even had players such as Adam Henrique get in on the tomfoolery.

Jimmy Kimmel & Donald Trump Get America’s Hopes Up

This next one is an April Fools Joke within an April Fools Joke – also a gag most people wish was real. Everyone’s favourite presidential hopeful, Donald Trump, teamed up with infamous pranker / talk show host Jimmy Kimmel to produce a video in which the Donald admits his presidential campaign was just one elaborate April Fools Joke, and his crazy antics were all part of the joke.

As believable as this sounds, this April Fools Joke is not real and our timelines will continue to be flooded with news about Mr. Drumpf.

Burger King Introduces Individually Wrapped fries

Fast food chain Burger King unveiled their new Single Fries. Nope, not fries made specifically for single men & women, but rather individually wrapped fries. Similar to their Left Handed Whopper, this was just an April Fools joke.

This escapade was put on by Burger King out of France, so the video below is in French.

We hope you didn’t fall for too many of these hoaxes (or any April Fools shananigans) but if you did decide to participate in this annual real-life episode of Punk’d, we hope you were the fooler, not the fooled.
