Another month, another round of laugh-out-loud videos from the Internet. Isn’t life grand? In this installment of Execulink’s Most Popular YouTube Videos of the Month series, America’s Got Talent scores highest in total list spots, while Jimmy Fallon scores the highest in total number of laughs produced (which is a totally scientific measurement, thank you). Stay tuned for some incredible talent, a little bit of knowledge, and a whole lot of surprises.

Tape Face: Strange Act Leaves the Audience Speechless - America's Got Talent 2016 Auditions
30,054,383 views

So this video may have been published a few hours before the official start of June, but the verdict is in, and it has been decided that IT STILL COUNTS for the purposes of this blog! Yes, I may be the only member of the jury, but that’s beside the point.

This is the ultimate “don’t judge a book by its cover” video. A man in heavy black eye makeup walks onto the America’s Got Talent stage with tape covering his mouth, stares at the judges for an uncomfortable length of time, and eventually begins his act. You probably wouldn’t even believe me if I described what his “talent” was, plus I don’t want to ruin the surprise for you, so please, click the link to get the full experience.

Selena Gomez Carpool Karaoke
28,116,443 views

This video is almost like the other James Corden Carpool Karaoke videos, except it involves a roller coaster – a roller coaster on which he sings with Selena Gomez. I guess you could say they really hit a high note in this video. HA.

My pun is not only unfortunate for the fact that it’s a terrible joke, but also for the reason that it is very literally untrue. It likely won’e chock anyone to discover that Selena’s vocal ability pales in comparison to some of his previous guests, like Adele or Sia. Even so, the video has its typical Carpool Karaoke charm, and Corden is always a fantastic host. He and Selena talk about her love life, get McDonald’s, and discuss Taylor Swift’s “girl squad”, which Corden hints that he desperately wants to be a part of.

Taking a Bath in a Giant 1,500 Gallon Coca-Cola Swimming Pool!

I expected nothing less from you, Internet. This video is about a guy who decides to fill a 1,500-gallon pool with Coca-Cola, then tosses in a bucket of Mentos and 200 pounds of ice. Then, of course, his friend decides to go for a swim and he catches it all on camera. You know that fuzzy, bubbly, slightly uncomfortable feeling you get when you drink carbonated beverages? I’m imagining swimming in Coke feels like that, but all over your entire body. Gross. They also then think it would be fun to plunge a very expensive tech toy into the pool, an action which I’ve mentally attributed to some sort of product placement – because who in the world would waste so much of their own money?? Oh, maybe two guys who would spend thousands of dollars on Coca-Cola. Take a look and see for yourself!

Broadway Carpool Karaoke ft. Hamilton & More
11,119,054 views

This Carpool Karaoke video was INCREDIBLE! I have to say it was much more entertaining than some of his recent installments. And let me tell you, I needed a little variation in my Corden videos, because seriously, I’ve probably watched 12 in the last few months just because they keep being the most popular videos on the Internet. So, a few show tunes sung by Broadway legends really raised my spirits, and now I severely want to go see the musical Hamilton.

The stars of the car this time around were Lin-Manuel Miranda from Hamilton, Audra McDonald, Jesse Tyler Ferguson from Modern Family, and Jane Krakowski, known best for her role in 30 Rock. And they were all phenomenal. Please watch this video if you want to brighten up your day!

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Brexit (HBO)

John Oliver is popular because he has the ability to take a complicated issue and make it easy to understand. He uses plain (although not always G-rated) language, metaphors, and references to make his point, and it works. This video is a great example of that – Brexit is not an easy issue to speak about, especially on national television, but he doesn’t do a bad job. Plus, it’s very clear that he’s passionate about the issue, as he is from the UK himself. If you’re confused about what this whole Brexit situation is about, give this video a watch, and hopefully John Oliver can shed some light on the situation.

"Slow Jam the News" with President Obama
9,537,553 views

How does this video not have the highest view count?? The actual President of the United States is in it, and he “slow jams the news”, which is essentially telling the audience about presidential news over a background of smooth jazz, or “mood music”. What more could anyone want, really? This is quite the intimate experience, so please, brace yourselves.

John Hetlinger: 82-Year-Old Singer Shocks the Room with Hard Rock Cover - America's Got Talent 2016
7,721,472 views

Okay, remember how I said that the video of the “Tape Face” guy on America’s Got Talent was the biggest “don’t judge a book by its cover” moment ever? I may have spoken too soon, because I think this 82-year-old war veteran/ex-aerospace engineer screaming into a microphone takes the cake. He is such a sweetheart while introducing himself, and then his act starts, and it’s like JOHN, WHO ARE YOU? Certainly not the adorable retiree I met 2 minutes ago. I’m sure you’ll know what I’m talking about once you watch the video – it’s truly stunning.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Official Game Trailer - Nintendo E3 2016
7,306,502 views

Nintendo fans, listen up! A new Legend of Zelda game was announced at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), and the trailer is here! The graphics are pretty sweet, and it seems like Nintendo wanted to maintain some of the old Zelda feel, because they didn’t go with an overly realist depiction of the characters like they could have. This is probably a good call, and the fans seem happy with it! By “fans”, I mean the comments section of YouTube, of course.

The music in the trailer is also great, which is not uncommon for Zelda games. Check out our blog on video game soundtracks to learn more!

Calysta Bevier: Teen Cancer Survivor Gets Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer - America's Got Talent 2016
7,101,632 views

Get ready for a tear-jerker, ladies and gentlemen. The contestant in this video is a 16-year-old survivor of stage 3 ovarian cancer, and her song choice, “Fight Song”, seems to fit her battle perfectly. Plus, she seems like the nicest 16-year-old ever, which doesn’t hurt. She’s also an incredible singer, and that fact combined with her backstory brings the audience to tears and prompts Simon Cowell to award her with the “golden buzzer”, which is apparently hooked up to a confetti machine and means that you get to go to the next round of the competition. It’s a must-watch if you’re one of those people who’s into heart-warming moments (don’t worry, you’re not alone).

Dwayne Johnson Eats Candy for the First Time Since 1989
6,700,956 views

Hold up. Before we even get into the video, we need to discuss its horrifying title – has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson seriously not eaten candy in 27 years?! I understand that he’s a health-focused guy but come on…it takes someone with a heart of stone (or Rock…HA! I could do this all day) to never have a single craving for Fuzzy Peaches, or Twizzlers, or Skittles…the list goes on. Anyways, Jimmy Fallon obviously feels the need to break this streak, so you’ll have to watch to see how he does it!

Just like that, we have reached the bittersweet end of this month’s installment of Execulink’s Most Popular YouTube Videos of the Month series. Join us next month for more timeless online entertainment!

We at Execulink hope that you have a wonderful Canada Day. Stay safe and enjoy your time with friends and family!
