Use Your Tech More Wisely With These Top Tech Resolutions

As far as resolutions go, most of us will think of health and finances as our top priorities that need to be considered for a change. However, there’s another integral component to our lives that may require some attention—our technology.

The average American spends a whopping 11 hours a day on electronic media. Let that sink in for a second. That’s roughly half the day spent tuned in to something. That means most of your life will be spent doing something on or around some kind of electronic device. With that in mind, here are our top tech resolutions, to help you become a better tech-user this coming year.

This one is obvious but can never be understated. Nevermind your ‘N Sync discography, there are family pictures and other data-memories that can’t be replaced if lost or stolen. Here is a great resource for why and how to backup your data. JUST DO IT!

Great, you backed up your data. But what good is data if it’s a mess and you can’t find anything you’re looking for? Start categorizing your data into folders. The sooner you start the cleanup the easier it will be in the future.

With all the endless, ever-changing viruses there are out there these days, it’s never been more important to protect your data. Programs like AVG Anti-virus protection will make sure you stay safe.

When you don’t use strong, unique passwords for your online accounts, you put yourself at risk for identity theft and data hacking. The trouble is, it’s hard to remember unique passwords because they are often a bunch of upper and lower case characters combined with numbers and symbols.
