Execulink Presents: The Top 10 Most Viewed YouTube Videos of February

Posted by cfeehan on February 29, 2016

Hello, and welcome to the second installment of our “Most Viewed YouTube videos of the Month” series! Wow, I can’t believe it’s already been a month since the premiere of this series. I still have visions of Channing Tatum prancing around as Elsa fresh in my memory. Trends changed up a little bit in February, although admittedly not much – a carpool karaoke video holds the top spot yet again, and the Star Wars obsession continues, as it should. One huge change is the extreme popularity of Jimmy Kimmel this month – 3/10 videos on this list are clips from his show. I hope this installment takes you on a wild ride of hilarity, suspense, and entertainment of epic proportions!

Sia Carpool Karaoke

Another James Cordon “Late Late Show” Carpool Karaoke video at the top of the list?? This guy must be doing something right! It has the same concept as the Adele Carpool Karaoke one from January; the only change is the guest star! This time it’s Sia, singer of hits like “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart”. I had heard her on the radio before, of course, but I absolutely did not realize how powerful her voice was live. She is amazing! You need to watch this video and see for yourself – I have no idea how she manages to hit those extreme high notes. She also takes a minute to explain why she’s always covering her face in public, which is very interesting. Don’t miss out on this video and Sia’s impressive vocal range!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Official Final Trailer [HD]

Superheroes and explosions and broken glass and smokescreens and seductresses and ACTION. What more could you want from a movie trailer for a film as epic as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? People cannot wait for this film to come out, and I can’t blame them. If it finally solves the age-old question of “Who would win in a fight? Batman or Superman?”, it’s worth all of the hype.

This may be slightly off-topic, but if you’re a fan of the show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, PLEASE watch this alternate trailer for Batman v Superman. I promise that it’s worth your time.

Wheel of Musical Impressions with Demi Lovato

I need to begin by saying that this would be the hardest game EVER for anyone who isn’t a phenomenal singer/doesn’t have a wide range of musical knowledge. For example, if I spun the wheel and had to sing like “Fetty Wap”, I would have no idea if a Fetty Wap was a person, a band, a term of endearment, or a cleaning product. I wouldn’t stand a chance. But Demi Lovato kills it, especially on her Christina Aguilera impression. Anyone who can sing like that live, especially on the spot, definitely gets my respect.

Expert tip: If you’re a fan of this video, you can find more just like it (but with different guest stars) on YouTube! A few to get you started are Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande, and Adam Levine. I apologize in advance for making your day considerably less productive.

Star Wars: Episode VIII Production Announcement

It appears that Star Wars videos are back in full force. GET IT?! Like, THE FORCE??

At least my boy Han Solo thinks I’m funny.

This time, it’s a 35-second video literally just announcing that the next movie is in production. Although that is awesome news, and yes, I have to admit that I got a bit excited, I can’t believe this video has over 10 million views! Essentially just to communicate two words of news! I’m sure that viewers thought they were going to get some sort of spoiler out of this video, and were heavily disappointed when this anticipated sneak-peek didn’t come through. Either way, this description is already longer than the video itself, so go ahead and add to the millions of views already!

"NFL 2016: Part One" — A Bad Lip Reading of the NFL

I was not at all expecting this video to be as good as it was because it has “NFL” in the title. I am not a football person, but I can assure you that this video is not really about football. It involves football players, that’s for sure, but their voices are dubbed over with “bad lip readings” provided by outside narrators. At one point, an interviewer asks a player “what his New Year’s Eve plans are”, and the dubbed-over voice responds with an answer containing Bingo, biscuits, and Saskatchewan. Obviously, these were not the real questions and answers in the interview, but they make football a lot more interesting for the non-sports fans. One more involves a player saying “What happened in France was, he said he was sleepy, and I met a funny bird right in my hotel!”. The fact that the player looks absolutely ecstatic while telling this magical story makes it even better. Please give it a chance, especially if you’re not a football fan, because I almost guarantee that it will have you laughing out loud.

"Ew!" with Jennifer Lopez

The results are in, and cross-dressing appears to be a popular theme again for February! I can’t help but wonder if this will continue to be a consistent trend month-to-month for this blog series. In this video, Jimmy Kimmel and guest star Jennifer Lopez play melodramatic pre-teen girls named Sara and Gabby. For some reason, they cannot seem to pronounce their words properly, making the video even more ridiculous. At one point, J. Lo shows off her classic J. Lo dance moves, which I suspect is the reason behind the high view count. If you have no other reason to take a look, do it for the chance to see Jimmy Kimmel in a dress and a blonde wig.

How 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Should Have Ended

At this point, I have to admit I was wrong about the popularity of these trailing off after the “Force Awakens” release became a distant memory. It seems that I severely underestimated the power of the geek-o-sphere. It’s been a while since I saw the movie, but this video still gave me a few good laughs, and seeing all of the characters animated was a cool change. The video was a bit sporadic at the beginning so it was hard to get into, but then there was a slide that read “but this is how it really should have ended…” about three minutes in, which is when I realized that until that point, all of the suggested clips were purely for fun, mostly to point out some of the film’s plot holes or flaws. You should give this video a chance to see if you agree with the creators’ opinions or if you’d stick with the original ending.

P.S. For some reason, I think Hurley and Sawyer from Lost show up in the background at around 1:42. I can’t explain the reason behind this with any certainty.

Peyton Manning Talks to Brother Eli's Super Bowl Sad Face

I hope you like Jimmy Kimmel, because we sure saw a lot of him this month. This time his guest is Peyton Manning, quarterback for the Denver Broncos (who just won the Super Bowl). He was invited onto the show mostly to discuss one thing, and that thing looks like this:

After the Super Bowl aired, everyone wanted to know why Eli Manning, Peyton’s brother, looked so goshdarn heartbroken when his brother’s team won the game. That is NOT the face of a proud brother, or even a moderately happy human being. Peyton had a few explanations for why Eli reacted the way he did, but you’ll have to watch to find out what they were.

Atlas, The Next Generation

My first reaction consisted of pure uneasiness because this robot almost walks like a human, but its movements are still so unnatural and jolted at times that it just doesn’t look right. It’s kind of part cute, because it’s all clumsy, and part terrifying, because I mean, faceless, human-shaped robot. Part way through, someone starts bullying the poor robot, and all I can think is “DON’T ANGER THE THING, IT’S GOING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD ONE DAY AND YOU’LL BE THE FIRST TO GO!”, which I don’t think is an unrealistic fear. Aside from that, it was definitely cool to see Atlas lift heavy objects and recover from a fall – basically anything that doesn’t include navigating his way through heavy snow, because 00:37-00:53 was very uncomfortable to watch. Check out the link to see Atlas do even more cool things, and try your best not to convince yourself of an upcoming robot takeover.

HEINZ Ketchup Game Day 2016 Hot Dog Commercial | "Wiener Stampede" - Extended Cut

Prepare yourself for cuteness overload. This video consists of wiener dogs (or dachshunds, if you prefer to use the breed’s actual name) dressed in hot dog costumes, running in slow motion, through a sun-lit field. Yes, it is as majestic as it sounds. And some of them are even tiny little puppies. Tiny little fluffy hot dog puppies. I’ve never wanted to be stuck in the middle of a stampede more in my life. If you want to have the best day of all-time, put this video on repeat, sit back in your chair, and imagine yourself in the middle of an eternal puppy party. Well, that would be my perfect day, anyways.

Thank you for joining us for Execulink’s second installment of our Most Viewed YouTube Videos series. We look forward to sharing many laughs, tears, and moments of sheer awkwardness with you in the months to come.
