The Benefits of Complete Wi-Fi

Click here to learn about Complete Wi-Fi

Do you have areas of your home where you just can’t get connected to Wi-Fi no matter what you do?  If so, we have the perfect solution for you!  Complete Wi-Fi is an awesome new service available in many geographic areas where Execulink provides service.  Complete Wi-Fi technology works by combining our Premium Router with our Mesh Wi-Fi Nodes.  It creates a strong network in your home by covering more areas and sustaining your devices’ connections.  Now is the perfect time to make an update to your router if your family is working or learning from home.

1. Better Wi-Fi Coverage

With Complete Wi-Fi and our Premium Router, you can blanket your home in fast, reliable Wi-Fi, connecting over 60 devices at one time.  Technology’s influence on our lives is only growing and having a router to support your devices is essential.  More rooms in our homes have technology that requires a strong Internet connection and you deserve to stay connected in every room from the basement to the backyard!

The Premium Wi-Fi router will automatically select which frequency is best to reduce connection drops. It has Dual-Band support which means it has two Wi-Fi radios, high bandwidth applications (like video) are routed to the 5GHz band while lower bandwidth activities use the 2.4 GHz band.

The Premium Wi-Fi Router has four Gigabit Ethernet ports that let you connect a variety of wired multimedia devices for rapid data sharing across your network.  You can also share large files effortlessly over the network by connecting your portable storage devices to the Premium Wi-Fi Router’s USB port.

2. Reliable

The Premium Wi-Fi Router helps maintain a strong connection in your home with self-healing functionality that reduces noise to improve performance.  This reliability is important if you are a heavy Internet user or gamer.  The router supports Internet speeds up to 1 Gbps so you can make the upgrade to faster speeds and get the new Premium Wi-Fi Router!

The Premium Wi-Fi router improves performance by reducing interference by focusing the wireless signal directly to your device using beamforming technology. Beamforming focuses the signal directly to the devices rather than having the signal spread in all directions from a broadcast antenna.  This technology can help improve wireless bandwidth utilization and increase a wireless network’s range in your home.

3. Expandable

The layout of your home will determine the best arrangement of Wi-Fi Mesh Nodes for your Complete Wi-Fi set up.  You may not require a Node at all but, if your layout is more spread out, then you may need a Node or two.

If you find that you’re still experiencing dead spots or you have a large home and the Premium Router doesn’t quite reach everywhere, you can easily get a Mesh Wi-Fi Node down the road. That’s the awesome part about Complete Wi-Fi – it’s expandable and can change as your home and Wi-Fi activities change.  You can connect up to 4 Mesh Wi-Fi Nodes to your Premium Router.

4. More Insights

With Complete Wi-Fi, the Premium Wi-Fi Router and Mesh Wi-Fi nodes, we will have better insight into your connection allowing us to better diagnose and solve issues. We can perform a wide range of diagnostics to make sure you are getting the best possible service.  For instance, if your Internet connection is not strong we can monitor recent and current errors based on data from the Premium Wi-Fi Router.  We will be able to identify interference on your Wi-Fi network from other devices.  As well, by renting any equipment from Execulink Telecom, you get full 24/7 support and warranty on the hardware.

Our Sales team will be able to help you decide what the right Complete Wi-Fi option is for you.  You can make the upgrade with your existing Execulink services or sign up as a new customer!  Check out our Complete Wi-Fi page for more information. Humans of Execulink: Mallorie Zavitz

This month we had the awesome opportunity to learn more about our Inventory department by interviewing Mallorie Zavitz! She is an integral part of our Inventory team in Thedford which keeps our business operations running smoothly.  She organizes our hardware to deliver it to our customers. As part of Execulink’s team for 14 years, she has grown and changed with the company and the services we provide!

Have you always been on the Inventory team?

I’ve changed from different positions including Sales and the front desk but, most of my years I have worked in Inventory.  I am happy I had the chance to explore other departments in those roles.  This has given me a better understanding of the business as a whole, providing additional context for the work I do now.

How would you describe your role and what do you like about it?

I’m in charge of the equipment – testing, packing, stocking. I like the opportunity to work with the hardware on the test bench and solve problems to ensure its functioning correctly for our customers.  I like having the chance to work independently but, also within our Inventory team which is very supportive and collaborative. I love it, it’s the best position for me.

What piece of advice would you give to a new hire at Execulink either inside or outside of your department?

The advice I would give a new employee is to get ready to learn a lot of new things, and about a lot different pieces of hardware and what they do. When you first start working with this technology all the terminology can be confusing but, as you grow accustomed to the work it becomes second nature!  Using our internal database system or asking a team member for more information about hardware will help you learn what is used for our different service types.

What does providing an awesome customer experience mean for you?

Providing an awesome customer experience is getting the equipment out for delivery ASAP meaning shipping equipment within 24 hrs.  A fast shipment lets customers know we are reliable and they can count on us to supply them with hardware on time.  Hardware is essential to our services so I ensure it is packed and shipped properly. It’s top priority!

What does your daily work routine look like?

I usually get in to work, log into the computer, stock shelves, add equipment to the test bench, repackage and clean it.  I make sure that the store fronts and technicians have their hardware for the jobs. Before I leave I break down cardboard and make sure everything is neat and tidy and ready for the next day.

We appreciate everything that Mallorie does for Execulink Telecom. With 14 years of experience, she is extremely knowledgeable and an awesome team player. If you’re interested in joining the Execulink team check out our careers page to see our open opportunities.

The Best Tech for Working From Home

Click here to see Execulink’s Home Internet options

Many of us are still working from home as Ontario enters the second wave.  Having an ergonomically correct setup will enhance your productivity, posture, and overall health!  This blog discusses a variety of gadgets made to accommodate your needs as you stay connected to your workplace and colleagues.

1. Mouse Support

Many of us prefer to work using a mouse but, this little device can cause some damage to our health such as RSIs (repetitive strain injuries).  Consider getting a wrist rest or a mouse pad with a built in rest. This will support your joints and prevent long term pain.   This rest from Kensington is available on Amazon for about $20.

Another helpful trick for keeping your wrists healthy is to do wrist circles and finger stretches as you read longer documents or emails. This will improve your wrist mobility and counteract some of the repetitive movements you do with your hands on a daily basis.

2. Improving your Video and Phone calls

One of the essential ways we are staying in touch with co-workers from home is using video calls.  With the right technology, you can enhance the audio-visual experience of your calls.

a. Noise Cancelling Headphones

Ensuring you devote your full attention to the conversation is easy if you have a pair of noise cancelling headphones.  On the higher price range, consider purchasing a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort over-ear headphones.  On the lower price range, the Sony On-Ear Noise cancelling headphones are not wireless but will block irksome background noise.

b. Headsets

Another alternative is purchasing a chat headset that also includes a microphone.  Headsets are popular with gamers. On the higher end of the price range, there is the Logitech Pro X Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset with Microphone. It’s wireless and offers up to 20 hours of battery life.  Headsets can be purchased for less than $20!  Consider this Ovleng Stereo USB headset with microphone.

c. Web Cam

There was a time in the early quarantine days when finding a webcam was a difficult task! These days the inventory has been replenished and they are easier to purchase online or in-store.  This PC Webcam by Vitadde will enhance the video quality of your next call with stellar lighting.

3. Affordable Smart Speakers

Having non-disruptive background noise is one thing that helps many people focus.  To stay in the zone with calming music or podcasts, consider an affordable smart speaker like a Google Nest Mini or The Echo DotVoice technology allows you to easily control the sounds of your home workspace.

4. Display and Keyboard

Getting an ultra-wide monitor will help you manage multiple applications and provide an abundant amount of screen real-estate for your work. Spend less time searching for the window you need and more time multi-tasking like a pro!  If you are an avid gamer, an ultra wide monitor will also be beneficial in your downtime as well.  This 29” Ultrawide monitor from LG is on the lower end of the price range at $249 + tax.

There are many ergonomic keyboards on the market that will provide you with a better typing experience, such as this keyboard from Logitech that is curved to reduce muscle strain on your wrists and forearms. This keyboard connects using Bluetooth which reduces the extra cords in your workspace. You can raise the keyboard’s legs to different degrees depending on your position – either seated or standing.

If you have a laptop, consider setting it up on a laptop stand to get your screen at eye-level.  These vary in price depending on if you want to work standing up or simply want to raise the laptop incrementally on your desk when you’re in a seated position.  This stand from PrimeCables will work for laptops from 10” to 15” at starts at just $19.99.  On the higher priced end, this standing desk riser provides more adjustable height settings and fits dual monitors.  It starts at $169.99.

Claiming Internet as a Business Expense

Click here to see Execulink’s Business Internet options

The perfect home office is one that boosts productivity without compromising functionality and comfort. During the coronavirus pandemic, social distancing caused many businesses to pivot to work from home environments. This has resulted in increased online activity at home and investments towards creating the ideal home office environment.

You may be happy to know that whether you’re self-employed or an employee working from home, there are ways using your home as an office can provide you with a tax incentive to offset some of your costs.

The Canada Revenue Agency has guidelines that outline how Canadians can claim certain expenses, including Internet, as a business expense on their personal income tax return.

Finding the right Internet service to support your online activities for your business are critical. At Execulink, we provide high-speed Internet service across southern Ontario.  We understand how important it is to our customers to receive reliable service without interruption. We offer 24/7 customer support to help get your Internet running as fast as possible.

What are Business Expenses?

In Ontario, you can claim certain tax deductions on your personal income statement. Business expenses are costs incurred for the purpose of earning income. Since using the Internet is often a necessity for working from home, the CRA considers it an acceptable cost to claim as a business expense.

Under the Income Tax Act, any employees that are required to cover employment expenses, and aren’t reimbursed by their employers, are able to claim a deduction on their return for these expenses.

Does Internet Qualify as a Business Expense?

If you work from home or are self-employed then you can claim your Internet as a business expense. In order to qualify you must use your home office as your workspace to earn business income or use it regularly (at least 50% of the time) for business purposes such as meeting clients.

Profitability of Your Business

It’s important to know that if you own and operate a small business, you cannot claim Internet a business expense for a period, without it becoming profitable. You must be expecting a reasonable amount of profit in order to claim business expenses.

Reasonable Business Expenses

Ensure your Internet expenses are considered “reasonable.” The CRA won’t accept claims that they deem unreasonable. To help you determine if your expenses is considered reasonable, the CRA has a list of rules that relate to the various types of acceptable business expenses.

Personal versus Business Expenses

Keep in mind that if you use your Internet for other personal purposes then you will be required to make that clear. You can only deduct the portion of the business expenses that are related to your use of the Internet for business purposes. You’ll deduct it as part of your home office expenses. You must separate the two types of usage in your life in order to expense it, and you cannot expense the portion that is related to personal use.

For instance, if you use Internet connection 75 per cent of the time for business purposes and your Internet costs $100, then you can claim $75 of the bill.

It’s advised that even if you purchase a laptop solely for business purposes, you should not claim 100% of your Internet expenses, since there are likely times when you use the laptop for small personal tasks as well. Watching the occasional Netflix show or surfing the web for personal pleasure would not constitute as business activity and could raise a red flag with the CRA.

However, if you use your Internet in your principal place of business 100% of the time, such as within an office space or commercial building, then that can be fully claimed.

How to Claim Internet as a Business Expense?

You will need to evaluate how much time you use the Internet for your business. Keep track of the time spent on personal tasks and business tasks.

Ensure you have your Internet bills on hand to submit for the claim. Your claim needs to be supported by documentation to prove the amount spent on Internet. If you are audited by the CRA and you cannot provide this evidence, then the claim will be disallowed.

To claim a deduction for Home Office Expenses, the employee must file a Form T2200 with the employee’s personal tax return. The form must be signed by the employer to confirm that the employees’ contract of work will require them to incur these expenses while they are doing their duties of employment.

Having reliable Phone service in your home provides a sense of familiarity.  The connection is stable and ensures your calls won’t be dropped. If you have a young family, using the home phone to teach your kids good phone manners is an added benefit. A home phone will give them a chance to connect with their friends without giving them their own cellphone.  As well, it’s useful for parents when you have a babysitter over watching the kids. They can have easy access to call you with a Home Phone.

2. Features

With our Phone service you get these awesome features included in your plan:

  • Call display – The callers name and number is displayed while the phone is ringing.
  • Call waiting – Alerts you to an incoming call when you are already on another call.
  • Call forwarding – Forward all incoming calls to another number.
  • Speed calling – Use short codes to call frequently used numbers.
  • Automatic recall – Announces the last incoming phone number with an option to call it.

3. Convenient for Working from Home

Having Home Phone service will improve the quality of the calls you need to make for your job. A convenient set up will enhance your work-from-home experience! Consumer reports found that quality on a cordless home phone was better than any cellular device.

4. Expanded Calling Areas

Certain towns may qualify for expanded local calling area which makes a long distance call suddenly local! We have local calling areas available for Ailsa Craig, Arkona, Forest, Ilderton, Parkhill, Port Franks/Ipperwash, Thedford, Watford, Delhi, Langton, Port Dover, Port Rowan and St. Williams. View all the details through our support page!

5. Long Distance

We also have awesome long distance plans that will help you connect with your family and friends across Canada and the USA.  We have rates for if you make infrequent long distance calls or if you want to add a Talk Unlimited feature to your plan that can be easily added as well. Other international long distance rates can be determined by contacting us.

6. There for You During Emergencies

Analog phone service is provided over a traditional telephone line and will continue working even if the power goes out.  If you have an Arris modem with your Internet service you will have battery backup included.  Please note that if your hydro is on but your connection drops you will not be able to make emergency calls with VoIP.

In other emergencies, 911 operators are able to quickly track a call from landline services whereas, on a cellphone they are only able to track to the nearest cell tower.  The added security of Home Phone service is beneficial in those worst case scenarios.

Getting Your Internet Ready for Back-to-School

Click here to see Execulink’s Home Internet options

The first day of school looks a bit different this year across the province. The start date and schedules depend on your school board.  So much is new – from masks to the structure of the semesters!  One thing is for sure, a strong Internet connection will be essential.  The way society relies on the Internet has shifted during the pandemic to include more video-calling, browsing and streaming.  Finding the right package for your home is easy with the awesome plans we offer.  This blog will discuss the factors you should consider when choosing the right Internet plan for your home.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted from one point in a network to another in a given amount of time.  For your Internet connection, bandwidth is measured in terms of Kbps (kilobits per second), Mbps (megabit per second) or Gbps (gigabit per second). The data is transmitted in packets and travels through the Fibre, Coax or Phone line.

The amount of bandwidth required for your home will depend on a number of factors such as:

  • Number of people in your household
  • Gaming
  • Working/learning from home
  • Streaming videos and the quality of the videos you stream (HD, 4K, SD)
  • Downloading/uploading
  • Social media

How Much Bandwidth Does Video-Calling Use?

In terms of the amount of bandwidth your home needs for back to school. One thing to consider is the increased frequency of video calling you or your kids will need to do.  Video calling platforms, such as Zoom will use approximately the following amount of bandwidth:

For 1-1 Meetings:

  • 600kbps (up/down) for high quality video
  • 1.2 Mbps (up/down) for 720p HD video

For Group Calls (More Than 2 People):

  • 800 Kbps/1.0 Mbps (up/down) for high quality video
  • For gallery view – 1.5 Mbps/1.5 Mbps (up/down)

While these requirements are fairly low, you must keep in mind that Zoom is not the only thing that will be connected to the Internet during your call. Things such as your phones, tablets, TVs and smart home devices will also contribute to your usage.

Availability of Services

Where you live will determine the speeds and packages available to your home. Certain service types offer faster speeds. You are sure to experience awesome with any of the plans available to your home.

Fibre

Fibre Internet is run on Fibre optic cables that run directly to your home. We offer Fibre in various counties across southern Ontario.  Fibre refers to the delivery method of the service which is carried through optical Fibre cables that are made of glass or plastic.  Fibre replaces the traditional copper cable and brings the next generation of Internet, TV and Phone services. Learn more about Fibre on our dedicated page about the service where we also discuss our construction and clean up process. Speeds available in our Fibre areas go up to 1Gbps!

Hybrid Fibre

Hybrid Fibre is a combination of coaxial Cable and Fibre optics. We bring Fibre right into your neighbourhood and then the cable connection goes to your door. We have Hybrid Fibre services available in select areas in Lambton and Middlesex counties. Speeds start at 50 Mbps!

Cable

Cable Internet is more broadly available across Ontario. Its delivered through copper cables and can also offer speeds up to 1 Gbps, depending on your area.  Your home Cable Internet connection can be more influenced by your neighbour’s usage because of the nature of the network that is connected by neighbourhood.

DSL

DSL service is run using your telephone lines and this set-up makes it more widely used across Ontario.  If you don’t have a home phone, no need to worry we can run a dry loop to your home to connect you to the Internet.

Wireless

Wireless Internet is available in areas that are rural and difficult to service with other connection types.  The signal is sent over radio waves from a radio tower.  Wireless Internet will require a site survey to your home which is free of charge. This will ensure we can provide you the right speeds.

How to Improve Your Connection

You may be satisfied with your current Internet speed and are just looking for a few ways to ensure a stable connection.  There are some adjustments you can make to your home office or your child’s home school desk to optimize its connection to your router.

Wired vs. Wireless connection?

One age-old tip for improving your connection is to use a wired Internet connection directly to the router rather than relying on Wi-Fi. A direct connection will allow your device to receive a steady signal that is not disrupted by other devices in your home, physical barriers, microwaves or neighbouring Wi-Fi networks.

If you choose to use a wireless connection if you can, move your desk to an area that is within close proximity to the router. This will limit the barriers of access to Wi-Fi.

What About Your Router?

Consider renting our router to receive 24/7 technical support and a full warranty on the device. Other benefits of using our router include:

  • We manage it – we have better visibility when troubleshoot any potential issues
  • We continuously update the firmware to proactively ensure you have the best Internet experience
  • It is easier to manage your router settings in our customer-friendly MyExeculink portal
  • If your router stops working – we can replace the device

How to Get Fast Cottage Internet

Click here to see Execulink’s Home Internet options

The Internet plays a pivotal role in our lives and therefore having fast speeds is critical. During the summer it can be tempting to get out of the city and head to the cottage to relax, have fun on the water, and maybe even get a little work done. Yet when it comes to Internet connectivity, cottage country can also experience disrupted service, buffering, and lost signals. This can be incredibly frustrating for people who want the best of both worlds – some time away from the hustle and bustle of life in the city while still getting access to high-speed Internet. The quest for reliable Internet service has been challenging in these areas, with many facing connectivity issues.

Having the ability to access Internet at the cottage can allow a family to stream their favourite movie or give a business-owner the flexibility to have a video conference meeting with their employees. While nearby towns have places (libraries, coffee shops, etc.) that may allow patrons to access the Internet, this can be inconvenient. Our world is becoming more digital as banking, healthcare, and education move online. Therefore, participating in this online activity depends on a fast Internet connection.

The good news is high-speed Internet doesn’t have to be a myth – even in cottage country. In fact, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecom Commission announced broadband Internet as a basic right for people across the country and are working towards a goal of 90% of Canadians having access to high-speed Internet by 2021.

At Execulink, we provide high-speed Internet service across southern Ontario. We understand how important it is to our customers to receive reliable service wherever they are without interruption. We offer 24/7 customer support to help get your Internet running as fast as possible.

A) Find the Right Type of Internet Technology

To get fast Internet in cottage country, you need to choose the right type of Internet technology. Large Internet service providers (ISP) sometimes don’t offer many Internet options to those in rural areas. While, other ISPs like Execulink specialize in getting Internet setup and connected in remote, underserved areas. These providers are pro at tackling the unique challenges that can arise when connecting these areas to a network.

Discover your best Internet option by determining the benefits and limitations:

Cable Internet

Cable Internet is an option in cottage country which uses the same wires that your cable television uses in order to run broadband Internet. This type of Internet has fast speeds and can handle streaming, uploading large files, online gaming, etc. Although, since you share broadband with others in your neighbourhood, using the network can slow down your connection especially during peak hours.

DSL Internet

DSL is available wherever there are phone lines which exist in most places across the province. Depending on where the phone towers are located it may provide remote areas with Internet connectivity. Although, how fast the speeds are can depend on several factors including the proximity of the cottage to the phone towers. Yet, an advantage of DSL is that the amount of people using the Internet simultaneously often doesn’t affect the speeds. This type is Internet is also very fast (although fibre is faster) and can support small to mid-sized families. Keep in mind that if you choose DSL then you will require a high-quality modem.

Fibre Internet

This type of Internet is optimal for cottages because it has a Fibre optic technology which means speed won’t diminish even if you’re further away from the source of the service. Fibre Internet is often praised for its fast speeds and reliable connection.  For day-to-day use including online gaming, livestreaming, and loading websites this type of Internet will be a delightfully smooth experience. As part of our Fibre Project, we are working to service rural areas that are part of cottage country including Kettle Point, Long Point and Turkey Point.

Satellite Internet

Satellite is another type of Internet that is often accessible in cottage country. However, due to satellites being located thousands of miles away in space, this can cause latency issues making it slow and unreliable compared to fibre Internet. Also, if there are weather issues such as thunderstorms or heavy rain then satellite Internet is often negatively affected.

Hotspots

Hotspots are another option for getting high-speed Internet in cottage country. They rely on either your mobile device or another hotspot device. However, if your mobile device isn’t getting any service then they won’t work properly. These hotspot devices also have data limits which means you may get hit with overage fees.

B) Limit the Number of Devices Online

Depending on the type of Internet you choose, try not to overload your network by having multiple devices connected simultaneously. More devices on the network can slow down your connection. Especially at the cottage where the Internet may already be struggling to maintain a strong signal. Start by disconnecting other devices and keep the priority devices connected. For instance, if you’re streaming a movie, disconnect any other devices that aren’t being used to keep the movie playing.

The Best Tech for Your Summer Picnic!

Click here to see Execulink’s Home Internet options

An activity becoming increasingly popular during the pandemic is picnicking. Picnics provide the opportunity to enjoy time with friends and family while staying physically distanced. They were a great activity even in pre-pandemic times.

Picnics have been around for hundreds of years and gained popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries.  Things have changed since those early picnic days but, the core benefit of a day spent snacking and frolicking in a field has remained consistent.   We thought it would be fun to explore how technology is shaping the future of picnics and some gadgets you can purchase to enhance your next outdoor gathering!

Basket

A truly successful picnic requires a state-of-the art basket. Business Insider recently complied a list of the best baskets. They found the Picnic at Ascot 401-B Collapsible Insulated Basket to be the best overall. What metrics are used to determine the best basket? We believe there are a few:

  • Insulation – to keep the hot, hot and the cold, cold.
  • Aesthetics – a classic wicker basket has the romanticism of the early days of picnics.
  • Durability – you need to be able to tote this basket in your car or while walking
  • Functionality – it needs to be leak proof with compartments for cutlery, plates and cups. Many picnic baskets will come with their own set of these essential dishes.

Speakers

Bluetooth technology has enabled the world to enjoy music on-the-go! If you’re in an area that permits visitors to play their own music then finding the perfect speaker is a must!  If you want to stick with the picnic theme, Wal-Mart sells a picnic basket shaped speaker! Finding a speaker that is easy to carry is important and this one certainly checks that box!

Another consideration for purchasing your speaker is if you need it to be waterproof. Even if you plan to have your picnic on a sunny day the weather could quickly change and rain could fall.

It’s possible to purchase a speaker-cooler hybrid product to tote your food and listen to your tunes.

Portable Chargers

When out on your picnic adventure, something to consider is how you are going to power your devices.  Having a portable charger is a great first step to ensure you remain connected. Alternatively, you could consider purchasing a solar powered power bank.  The “Nomad 5 Solar Panel” from Goal Zero is an ecofriendly and creative way to keep power.

Take a seat

Check out society 6’s high tech picnic blanket designs for blankets that have an artistic and technological flare. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy a charcuterie board while sitting on a microchip?

If you happen to own a truck, consider purchasing is this awesome trailer hitch for a hammock chair stand.  A comfortable and stylish way to enjoy your snacks and conversation.  It would also be very useful for your next camping trip.  If you prefer a chair that moves but still has 4 feet on the ground, this rocking lawn chair is perfect for you!

These picnic accessories are sure to make your next outdoor gathering a smashing success!  We hope you are able to enjoy the last few weeks of summer with friends and family by having more adventures close to home.  If you decide to have a backyard picnic, make sure you have the right Internet plan to support your adventure. Humans of Execulink: Meaghan McCarney

Meaghan McCarney is a shining star on our Growth Sales Team.  She has been with Execulink Telecom since June 2013 and has learned so much during that time.  Finding the perfect Internet, TV and Phone solutions for residential customers is her passion.  Through this blog, we gained insight into what her role consists of and how she finds working from home during COVID-19!

1. What does providing an awesome experience for customers mean to you?

Telephone sales and support can be challenging.  My guiding Sales philosophy is that the customers I deal with should be treated as I want to be treated. I ensure our customers feel heard and respected. When I know I have met their needs and they are satisfied with the service from Execulink Telecom, it’s rewarding and provides me a sense of accomplishment.

2. What has been your experience working from home since COVID-19 began?

I’ve been working from home since mid-March and it has definitely been an adjustment.  Finding a balance between work and home life has been challenging with a toddler and the lack of daycare services. To stay organized, I have a dedicated workspace for myself at home, and report for work during the hours I am scheduled. Technology continues to be a successful way of communicating with customers and my colleagues.  The services Execulink provides keep our customers connected for work, home and play. This is more apparent now than ever before as I adapt to remote working. I miss the feeling of being in the Woodstock office, but overall, working from home has been gratifying and productive.

3. What keeps you challenged and engaged on a daily basis through your role?

I am a sales person by nature and truly enjoy what I do.   What I love about my job is that every call presents a unique opportunity.  I am always curious about what the customer is looking for, and I thrive on finding creative ways to support their needs. I want to provide a good life for myself and my daughter, so I am driven to do my best with every call.

4. What resources do you consult to learn new things about Execulink’s services and technology?

I use Athena our internal training platform to keep up with new changes to our products and services. We have a messaging platform within the Sales department where I reach out to my colleagues when needed.

5. What are your favourite TV shows/channels?

I love documentaries and reality TV, especially true crime.  A&E and TLC are my favorite channels lately. It’s so easy to add or remove channels to your Link TV lineup using MyExeculink.  It’s great that Link TV is so customizable to my interests.

Meaghan has found her stride throughout her 7 years at Execulink Telecom. She excels by finding customized solutions for every person she speaks with over the phone.  She understands how to build strong connections with her colleagues and customers.  If you are interested in joining our Growth Sales team, check out our careers page for new opportunities.
